Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for an Urgent Care clinic in Council Bluffs, IA. The role involves reviewing records, preparing exam rooms, handling prescription renewals, and supporting physicians in patient care.

The position requires an LPN license with a high school diploma or GED; BLS is preferred and should be obtained within 3 months. Evening and weekend hours are included in a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from an accredited LPN program required.
• LPN license required.
• BLS certification preferred at time of hire; must obtain within 3 months.
• Previous LPN/medical experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Ability to communicate with patients and families and to work with staff.

Responsibilities

• Review records, prepare patient exam rooms, and handle prescription renewals.
• Provide patient and family education to ensure understanding of care and community resources as directed.
• Perform telephone triage and document patient condition; relay information to provider per protocol.
• Prepare exam rooms and equipment; assist with patient examinations and procedures.
• Dispense medications under provider direction and assist with phlebotomy and lab work.
• Ensure accuracy of order entry and maintain comprehensive patient documentation.
• Answer and return phone calls, and provide test results and pharmacy refills as required.
