Job summary

Yale New Haven Health Urgent Care is seeking a Medical Receptionist for our New Canaan location. This role involves greeting patients, verifying insurance, scheduling, and managing EMR entries in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• 2 years’ experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance and workers' comp billing.
• Ability to maintain accurate records in a medical office.
• Ability to complete tasks without direct supervision.
• Ability to collaborate with others and assist when needed.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality.
• Ability to multi-task with patients and duties in a process-driven environment.
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR records systems.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and greet patients at the front desk.
• Verify insurance information and collect co-pays and deductibles.
• Register patients in EMR system and manage patient charts.
• Maintain filing and general clerical duties.
• Manage patient charts and medical records per policy.
• Keep waiting area clean, organized and welcoming.
