Job summary

Johnson Memorial Health is seeking a full-time Urgent Care CMA I in Franklin, Indiana. You will enter provider orders into the EMR, assist with exam rooms, perform vital signs, draw lab specimens, and administer medications as prescribed by the physician or nurse practitioner.

You will maintain a smooth patient flow, perform basic lab tests, and communicate findings to providers. Three 10-hour weekday shifts with every other weekend; CMA certification required or obtained within 3 months.

Qualifications

• CMA certification required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire into CMA role (may not enter provider orders until Certification is obtained).
• One year of related Medical Assistant experience preferred in a provider’s office or clinic.

Responsibilities

• Enter provider orders into electronic medical record.
• Maintain clean, stocked work area and inform supervisor of needed repairs.
• Assist in preparing exam rooms and patients for examinations, take medical history and vital signs, draw lab specimens, administer medications as prescribed.
• Perform lab tests (urine dipsticks, urine drug screens, blood draws) and communicate results to provider/patient.
• Greet patients professionally and maintain confidentiality.
• Schedule referrals and follow-up appointments by telephone and information system.
• Assist with calls, retrieve and file medical records, secure medications as needed.
• Access patient information systems to retrieve vital records and demographics.
