Job summary

Florida-Orthopaedic-Institute is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) for our Urgent Care in Ocala. The APP will assess and manage patients with acute orthopaedic injuries, performing histories, exams, orders, and treatment plans within a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Requirements include Florida PA/APR N licensure, NCCPA or APRN certification, BLS/ACLS, and 3+ years in urgent care or trauma. This is a full-time, on-site role with potential for additional evening/weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency medicine, trauma, urgent care or high-acuity settings (3+ years).
• Orthopaedic/musculoskeletal experience strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain detailed medical histories and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
• Provide direct patient care for acute orthopaedic injuries and conditions in Urgent Care.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (X-ray, labs, imaging) as needed.
• Develop treatment plans and provide follow-up care in collaboration with physicians.
• Apply/remove casts, splints, braces, and other immobilization as appropriate.
• Prescribe medications and therapies within scope of practice and regulations.
• Identify patients needing higher level care and coordinate transfers to ED.
• Document progress notes and maintain patient records and follow-ups.
• Coordinate with FOI physicians, specialists, and therapy services for follow-up.
• Participate in education, research, and continuous professional development.

Education

Graduate of an accredited PA or APRN program

Current Florida state license as a PA or APRN

NCCPA certification (PA) or national certification as an APRN

BLS and ACLS certification
