Job description

Role Summary

URBN is looking for a Transportation Analyst to join their team! The Transportation Analyst will be accountable for ensuring all merchandise purchase orders comply with Transportation procedures to enable the most efficient delivery to our distribution centers, and that accurate data is available to provide clear visibility into shipment status. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of freight estimates, relevant purchase order attributes, and accurate data from our forwarders, with the goal of driving compliance to standards. This role calls for an analytical thinker who uses data to understand what is driving performance, pull out meaningful insights, and lead the process improvements that raise data integrity and compliance over time.

Role Responsibilities
  • Review and verify purchase orders for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Transportation policies and procedures, using automated checks and exception reporting wherever possible to reduce manual effort
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies that may affect the successful delivery of merchandise purchase orders, and identify the root causes so recurring issues are fixed rather than re-worked
  • Monitor the accuracy and timeliness of shipment milestones received from forwarders, identify gaps and recurring data issues, and partner with forwarders, carriers, and technology providers to correct them at the source and resolve systemic process issues
  • Drive freight estimate accuracy by comparing estimated to actual freight costs, identifying the root causes of variances, and recommending fixes to Transportation leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Design, build, and maintain automated data quality checks, exception reports, and dashboards that surface issues consistently and proactively, and own the follow-through by escalating issues to the right teams and driving corrective actions to resolution
  • Define and maintain KPIs and data definitions that measure performance and track improvement over time
  • Translate complex analysis into concise, decision-ready recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Document processes, logic, and tools so they are repeatable and transferable
Role Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in an analyst role, preferably within supply chain, logistics, transportation, or retail
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability, including defining problems, developing and testing hypotheses against data, and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data modeling with large datasets
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify anomalies and inconsistencies in large, complex datasets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and align internal partners and external providers without direct authority
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate effectively across departments, including Brands, Sourcing, Finance, and Technology, as well as external partners
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • Experience automating reporting and data workflows using Excel macros and VBA
  • Proficiency in a BI/visualization tool (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (such as Claude) to build analyses, automations, or internal tools, with sound judgment about validating AI output
  • Familiarity with international and domestic freight, or forwarder operations
  • Exposure to project or program management
