Job summary

MDOT’s Urban Travel Analysis Unit in Lansing seeks a Transportation Planner to support MPOs, analyze data, and contribute to travel demand modeling and forecasting.

You will work closely with MDOT and partners to forecast travel demand and inform urban transportation planning across Michigan’s regions. Remote work may be considered within limits, with a focus on continuous learning and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 30 semester credits in planning, environmental studies, or related fields.
• Two years of experience for T planner 10; two years for P11 with progression.
• No specific type or amount required for Planner 9.

Responsibilities

• Use GIS and statistical tools for data analysis.
• Analyze socioeconomic data to inform planning.
• Build and refine travel demand models.
• Collaborate with MPOs on long-range plans.
• Identify potential roadway capacity issues.
• Perform regional and project-level forecasting.
