Job summary

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) invites you to join the Urban Travel Analysis Unit as a Transportation Planner. You will support metropolitan planning organizations, analyze transportation data, and contribute to project teams.

You will develop travel demand models, analyze household travel survey data and forecast urban travel patterns in Michigan’s urban regions, collaborating with MPOs and MDOT colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning, environment, economics or related field with relevant coursework.
• Experience or familiarity with transportation planning concepts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and statistical tools for data analysis.
• Analyze socioeconomic data to inform transportation planning.
• Build and refine travel demand models.
• Collaborate with MPOs on long-range transportation plans.
• Identify potential roadway capacity issues.
• Perform regional and project-level forecasting
