Job summary

MDOT invites applications for a Transportation Planner in the Urban Travel Analysis Unit to support Michigan’s metropolitan planning organizations (MPO) and analyze transportation data across Michigan’s urban regions. You will develop travel demand models, analyze socioeconomic trends, and contribute to project teams with a focus on long-range planning.

Collaborate with MPOs and MDOT colleagues while maintaining flexibility on remote work within established limits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in planning, environmental studies/sustainability, environmental sciences, engineering, statistics, mathematics, geography, GIS, logistics or economics.

Responsibilities

• Utilize GIS and statistical tools for data analysis.
• Analyze socioeconomic data to inform transportation planning.
• Build and refine travel demand models.
• Collaborate with MPOs on long-range transportation plans.
• Identify potential roadway capacity issues.
• Perform regional and project-level forecasting.
