Amerco Real Estate Company is seeking a full-time Planner to join the land use and zoning team in Midtown Phoenix. You will handle land planning, entitlements, and plan prep for our U.S. and Canada portfolio, reporting to the Director of Land Use and Zoning and AREC leadership.

This in-person role runs 8 AM–5 PM, Monday–Friday, with no remote option. You’ll contribute to municipal analyses, graphics, and coordination with external consultants to support development projects.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field (preferred).
• At least 4 years of experience in urban planning or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign).
• Knowledge of site development process and preliminary engineering due diligence.
• Ability to read and understand complex zoning codes, general plans, specific plans, and technical reports.
• Excellent organization and people skills including the ability to work with a wide variety of staff.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects while maintaining attention to detail.

Responsabilidades

• Research and prepare analysis of municipal zoning codes.
• Negotiate and finalize entitlements from municipalities.
• Process applications for rezoning, tentative maps, development agreements, design reviews, general plan amendments, and variances.
• Attend and present at virtual hearings, pre-application meetings, etc.
• Develop and manage relationships with municipal staff and officials.
• Understand and clearly communicate the needs of different jurisdictions to internal and external stakeholders.
• Negotiate contracts for services to be performed by outside consultants such as land use attorney, architects, and civil engineers.
• Prepare graphics and materials using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite.
