The City of Virginia Beach Development Services Center (DSC) with the Department of Planning and Community Development is seeking a Planner I/II to join our team. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Architecture, Political Science or related field.
MS in Urban Planning.
AICP certification, licensed land surveyor is a plus.
Two years of related experience; combination with education may apply.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of technical and professional City Planning research and analysis duties.
Interprets and applies codes, policies, laws and regulations related to subdivision, zoning, land use.
Reviews subdivision plats, easements and other land development documents.
Coordinates comments from review agencies and communicates with professionals and developers.
Reviews site and subdivision plans for compliance with city ordinances.
