Job summary

Urban Outfitters in Phoenix seeks a Home Digital Tech to support photo shoots, manage studio workflow, and prepare images for post-production. You will work with photographers and stylists, keep software up to date, and help name, upload, and organize assets while ensuring color accuracy across monitors.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of digital tech or photography experience, proficiency with Canon systems, MacOS, Capture One Pro, RAW processing, and studio lighting.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of Digital Tech or Photo experience.
  • Proficiency in Canon camera systems, MacOS, and digital workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with Capture One Pro.
  • Proficiency in RAW processing.
  • Strong knowledge of studio (Profoto preferred) and natural lighting.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of web image standards and color spaces.
  • A self-starter who is extremely organized with strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment through strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform digital tech duties during shoot days, including oversight of Capture One on set, management of studio workflow tools, and checking camera and lighting settings.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting, process images according to studio standards, and keep files organized and accurate.
  • Work with E‑Commerce Art Directors and photographers to narrow shoot edits on set, ensuring each shot captures the features and qualities unique to the item and is representative of the UO brand.
  • Ensure a high level of technical quality and aesthetics for all photography created and distributed by the studio by following shoot guides and processes set into place.
  • Act as a second technical eye for the photographer, checking focus, exposure, and color.
  • Assist the photographer with lighting and set changes as required.
  • Oversee the photography asset creation process, ensuring assets are captured, named, uploaded, and stored correctly to support efficient workflow.
  • Prepare and deliver image PDFs to teams as required.
  • Manage image requests from internal and external teams.
  • Maintain and manage digital file naming, organization, and image workflow for photo teams, including server.
  • Color-calibrate all computer monitors to ensure proper image representation.
  • Manage a team of freelance digital techs, keeping them updated on any process or lighting changes.
  • Liaise between the post-production team and the on-set team to facilitate image edits, retrieve missing images, and process urgent files.

Role Summary

The Home Digital Tech requires someone who is organized, possesses strong management skills, and has a keen interest in computers and software workflows. They should also be passionate about photography and proficient in current photography trends. The Home Digital Tech works closely with the photographer and stylists during shoots to ensure proper capture and labeling of incoming images, help create and catalogue photography assets across the photo studios, and prepare all studio images for post‑production. They keep software updated, research new workflows, and manage equipment maintenance and organization. They also assist in studio areas such as lighting, set preparation, and equipment setup. A deep understanding of the Urban Outfitters brand, its customers, and how that translates to the visual aesthetic and mood of product photography on the website is essential.
