Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks passionate high school science teachers to prepare students for AP coursework and college success. You will lead inquiry-based science instruction, fostering student voice and rigorous discourse across Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science.

You will collaborate with the Science department to set goals, analyze data, and support diverse learners while engaging families and the wider school community. Commitment to urban education is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• NJ state teacher certification eligibility required within a reasonable period after starting.
• Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
• 1–2 years of urban teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science with AP readiness.
• Foster student-led discourse and evidence-based argumentation.
• Meet weekly with leadership to analyze student work and adjust instruction.
• Build positive relationships with students and families and participate in PD.
