Job summary

Baltimore Green Space seeks a Forestry Manager to oversee the Forest Network, support startup assessments, and drive stewardship planning across Baltimore’s underresourced neighborhoods.

You will lead educational activities, engage community stewards, and collaborate with scientists to monitor forest health and report findings. The role emphasizes equity, outreach, and hands-on forest care across city patches.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or 3+ years in urban forest ecology, environmental science, or related field.
  • Experience with GIS, LiDAR, and environmental mapping tools.
  • Data management experience designing and maintaining databases.
  • Proficient with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint, Slack, and CRM tools like Salesforce.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Forest Network, including startup analyses and stewardship planning.
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance to communities and oversee forest care activities.
  • Coordinate with partners for hazard tree removal and grant-funded improvements.
  • Lead community outreach and training of Forest Fellows and volunteers.
  • Maintain records and report on forest health and program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with scientists, foresters, and conservation groups to advance urban forests.
