Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is seeking an Urban Forestry Education Specialist to support forestry education initiatives in urban settings as part of LEAF, Wisconsin’s K-12 Forestry Education program. The role focuses on partnering with schools, guiding planning for using school grounds for learning, and delivering professional development to teachers on urban forestry integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Education, Science Education, Agriculture Education, Sustainability Education, or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of forestry.
• Experience working with K-12 teachers or schools.
• Passion for and dedication to forestry and sustainability education.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
• Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
• May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
• Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
• Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
• Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
• Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
