Job summary

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point seeks an Assistant Professor of Forestry for a full-time, tenure-track position. The role emphasizes forest biometrics and the development of courses in forest inventory, GIS/remote sensing, and related areas.

Teaching is 12 credits per semester with opportunities to expand into related topics. The position includes undergraduate and graduate advising, service on committees, and active engagement in research with external funding potential.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Forestry or closely related field, or will have by start date (Aug 25, 2027, or negotiable).
• One additional post-secondary degree (B.S., Master’s) in Forestry preferred.
• Experience in forest biometry and areas such as inventory/monitoring, modeling, carbon assessment, GIS/remote sensing in forestry & fire applications.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in forest inventory or data modeling for resource decisions.
• Knowledge of forest field techniques and tools used in analysis of forest and fire environments.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research and/or secure external funding.
• Commitment to working with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Teach 12 credits per semester (12 credits in fall/spring, 6 in summer).
• Potential to develop courses with computational modeling & GIS/remote sensing.
• Engage in research and scholarship with opportunities for external funding.
• Provide undergraduate/graduate advising and participate in service activities.
