Job summary

The City and County of San Francisco Public Works is seeking an Arborist Technician (3434) for the Operations Division within the Bureau of Urban Forestry. You will perform urban forestry maintenance, including tree removal and related duties, under general supervision.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of journey-level tree work. A valid CA Class C license is required at application; a Class B license without air-brakes is required upon probation.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED or equivalence).
• Experience: Three (3) years journey-level arborist/tree work experience with climbing.
• License: Valid California Class C driver’s license at application; Class B license with no air brakes required after probation.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and evaluate tree conditions.
• Climb trees with rope and saddle or use aerial lift to remove limbs.
• Remove trees and grind stumps; perform rigging with ropes and lowering devices.
• Operate chainsaws, pruners, hedge trimmers, and other arborist tools; operate arborist vehicles and related equipment.
