Job summary

Meridell Achievement Center, a 134-bed psychiatric residential facility northwest of Austin, seeks a detail-oriented PRN Utilization Review (UR) Coordinator to cover shifts Monday through Friday with flexible hours. The UR Coordinator coordinates between the treatment team and payers to submit Prior Authorization requests and concurrent reviews.

You will review medical records for medical necessity, submit appeals, and work with admissions, accounts receivable, and the clinical team.

Qualifications

• B.S. Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and licensure/certification requirements as listed.
• One year inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.
• Current Texas RN license; LPC/LCSW/LMFT acceptable; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Job description

Meridell Achievement Center is a 134‑bed, seclusion‑free psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60‑acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and developmental needs, a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24‑hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a detail‑oriented PRN (Per‑Diem) UR Coordinator to pick up shifts as necessary, Monday through Friday. Flexible hours.

The Utilization Review Coordinator bridges communications between the hospital treatment team and insurance companies/referral agencies. The Coordinator analyzes clinical documentation to submit Prior Authorization requests for approval before admitting a patient and submits concurrent review applications to extend a patient’s stay. All authorization extensions or denials are tracked promptly in the electronic system, and appeals processes for denials are followed. Peer reviews, consults, and appeals involve the facility physician and insurance physician. The UR Coordinator reviews medical records and clinical documentation for medical necessity and works closely with admissions, accounts receivable, and the clinical team from the facility office.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• B.S. Nursing from an accredited school of nursing, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT.

Experience

• One year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults, adolescents, and/or children preferred.

Licensure/Certification

• Current Texas Registered Nurse License, LPC, LCSW, or LMFT.
• Current driver’s license.

Knowledge and Skills

• Full understanding of medical terminology, insurance terminology, and clinical/psychiatric disorders.
• Time management: flexible and able to assess daily departmental priorities.
• Communication and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and computer proficiency.
