Meridell Achievement Center seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide physical assessments, implement treatment plans, and oversee care for youth in a 134-bed psychiatric residential setting. The RN ensures safety, documents care, and coaches staff across the care team about therapeutic approaches.

Responsibilities include crisis management, medical management of patients, and contributing to a supportive milieu under physician and nursing leadership.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
• Texas Registered Nurse license (current).
• One year psychiatric/neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents/young adults preferred.
• Current driver license.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical assessments of patients and implement treatment plans.
• Administer medications as prescribed and document care.
• Supervise Mental Health Techs and LVNs to maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu.
• Support crisis management and continuity of care for children, adolescents and young adults.

Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.

Our Registered Nurse (RN) position is under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. The RN provides physical assessments of patients; implements treatment plans, evaluates response to treatment, provides complete documentation, administers medications as prescribed and provides health care education for patients and families. The RN is the shift supervisor of the Mental Health Techs and LVN staff and ensures that the environment is safe and therapeutic for all patients. The RN provides direct patient care and management of children, adolescent, and young adult patients as prescribed by the physician and treatment team. Assures safety, supervision, and crisis management for patient populations. Provides assessment and medical management of patients and assists in the management of a therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
• One year psychiatric / neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and / or young adults in a long-term hospital or residential setting preferred.

Experience

• Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure/Certification

• Current Texas Registered Nurse License
• Current driver license.
