Communitas, Inc seeks a dedicated Specialized Skills Instructor for its Upward Program in Beverly, MA. You will mentor individuals with higher abilities on the autism spectrum, helping them build independence, friendships, and social connections through engaging activities.

Responsibilities include teaching, assessing training needs, designing teaching programs, and collecting progress data to ensure effectiveness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required (BA degree in Human Services or related field preferred).
• At least 1 year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• A passion and dedication to supporting our people is a must.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Must pass company background and reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal assistance, teach, and support a group of young people who have autism without a developmental disability.
• Assess individuals’ training needs, cultivate descriptive teaching programs, and monitor effectiveness through data collection.
• Adapt your own interests (art, music, cooking, health & fitness, etc.) to teach others new skills.
• Develop and implement community-based activities.
• Provide personal care and assistance to individuals consistent with their needs as they strive to reach their goals.
