Job summary

New Jersey Institute of Technology is seeking a part-time Upward Bound Instructor for High School Math in the TRiO program. The role involves teaching Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or Pre-calculus/Calculus, and coordinating tutoring activities for underrepresented students.

The instructor will prepare outlines, deliver integrated math instruction, and participate in training sessions while ensuring proper supervision and safety as needed.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of teaching experience at the high school or post-secondary level.
• Background clearance check required.
• Ability to plan, organize and conduct a comprehensive instructional tutoring program for Upward Bound.
• Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students.
• Education and experience prerequisites may be exempted at the university's discretion.

Responsibilities

• Conduct an integrated academic math class (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-calculus/Calculus) and teach learning strategies.
• Prepare and submit a course outline prior to the start; assist with tutoring and problem-solving activities.
• Complete paperwork related to classroom and project management.
• Make recommendations on students' strengths and needs; report issues to staff.
• Assist with training and evaluation of Teacher Assistants; attend trainings and meetings.
