Responsibilities include planning and delivering instructional units, mentoring students, coordinating with teaching assistants, keeping course outlines, and documenting progress to support student success.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of teaching experience at the high school or post-secondary level.
• Complete a background clearance check.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in the designated discipline.
• Experience working with minority and disadvantaged students at the middle school, high school or post-secondary level.
• Education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop and conduct a comprehensive instructional program for students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program.
• Conduct an integrated Elective class on various topics, ranging from but not limited to: Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Drama, Creative Writing, Current Events, Psychology, Sociology, Debate, Communications, Etiquette, Art, Dance, Chess, Karate, Yoga, Mentoring, etc.
• Teach students learning strategies.
• Conduct teaching and instructional activities using educational equipment, manipulatives, props, and other learning aids, and prepare and submit a course outline prior to the start of the class.
• Assist with the planning, instruction, and evaluation of tutoring and problem-solving activities.
• Complete paperwork associated with classroom and project management.
• Make recommendations on students' strength and needs.
• Report student learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel.
• Assist with the training and evaluation of Teacher Assistants.
