Position Summary

The High School Math Instructor will be responsible for teaching the following courses: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra 11 or Pre-calculus/Calculus.

Essential Functions

• To conduct an integrated academic math class (Algebra I,Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-calculus/Calculus) teach students learningstrategies.
• Conduct teaching and instructional activities using educationalequipment, manipulative objects, props, and other learning aids.
• Prepare andsubmit a course outline prior to the start of the class, assist with theplanning, instruction, and evaluation of tutoring and problem-solvingactivities.
• Complete paperwork associated with classroom and projectmanagement.
• Make recommendations on students' strength and needs.
• Reportstudent learning and behavioral issues to the appropriate staff personnel.
• Assist with the training and evaluation of Teacher Assistants.
• The instructor is required to attend training andmeetings.
• In the event of an absenceplease provide 24-hour notice.
• Classroom work must be prepared for students andthe TA must be prepared to deliver work to students in the absence of aninstructor.

Additional Functions

• Transportstudents from one class location to another in a timely manner, ensuring propersupervision and safety of students.

Prerequisite Qualifications

• Two or more years of teaching experience at the high schoolor post-secondary level.
• Complete a background clearance check.
• Ability toplan, organize, develop and conduct a comprehensive instructional tutoringprogram for students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program.
• Undergraduate orgraduate degree in the designated discipline.
• Experience working with minorityand disadvantaged students at the middle school, high school or post-secondarylevel.
• At the university's discretion, theeducation and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate candemonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination ofeducation and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success inthe position.

Salary Information

In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly range for this position is $40.00-$50.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, or other items.
