Job summary

American Petroleum Institute (API) in Washington, DC, is seeking a Program Manager for Upstream/The Environmental Partnership to lead policy positions and manage program activities. You will work with API committees and member companies on ESA and biodiversity issues, and support the Environmental Partnership’s workshops and reporting.

The role demands 5–7 years’ related experience, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, excellent communication, and collaboration skills with government and industry

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar role with subject matter expertise in oil and gas operations and/or environmental policy
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of industry, trade associations, and/or energy-related regulatory/legislative issues and public issue advocacy strategies
  • Familiarity with ESA/MBTA/BGEPA desirable
  • Experience collaborating with diverse professionals and government representatives
  • Excellent communications, planning, and analytical skills; proficient in Microsoft Office; WordPress desirable

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements API policy positions and provides ongoing support to API committees related to ESA and biodiversity.
  • Support The Environmental Partnership Director in implementing TEP missions and goals with member companies.
  • Coordinate organization, planning, content development, and execution of TEP workshops, meetings, and conferences.
  • Manage TEP reporting, data analysis, and annual report preparation.
  • Develop advocacy materials and talking points in coordination with API staff and member companies.
  • Provide input to API management and advocacy and messaging as needed.
  • Assist with budget setting and management for projects in assigned policy areas.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with government representatives and stakeholders to promote industry policies.
