American Petroleum Institute (API) is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to manage technical and administrative activities within API's Upstream Policy department in Washington, DC. The role ensures member engagement and alignment on regulations addressing hydraulic fracturing, produced water, PFAS and other environmental issues affecting upstream operations.

The advisor will work with API staff and allies to develop policy positions, manage issues, and support strategy development to benefit API's

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in a similar role and subject matter expertise.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience.
• Experience with regulatory advocacy and industry issues.
• Familiarity with oil and gas operations and regulatory matters.
• Knowledge of federal administrative law and rulemaking.
• Ability to interpret federal regulation and develop strategy.
• Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.

Responsabilités

• Serve as subject matter expert on environmental issues in exploration and production.
• Communicate and apply federal laws, regulations and agency practices.
• Develop policy positions with API members and staff.
• Provide analyses of proposed regulations and comments.
• Coordinate policy positions for federal and state advocacy.
• Lead committee meetings with member companies to achieve goals.
• Collaborate with API departments and industry groups as needed.
• Oversee budget needs and project management of contractors.
• Act as spokesperson for API with policymakers and media.
