Truth Be Told, the British-inspired tavern located within The Study at University of Chicago, is seeking an experienced Bartender. Join our Food & Beverage team to deliver thoughtful beverage service, craft cocktails, and a welcoming experience for hotel guests, university visitors, and Hyde Park neighbors.

We value classic cocktail knowledge, guest-focused hospitality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and consistency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of bartending experience in upscale casual or hotel environments.
• Strong knowledge of classic cocktails and spirits with modern interpretations.
• Current Illinois responsible alcohol service certification preferred or able to obtain.
• Experience with restaurant POS systems and guest transactions is preferred.
• Friendly, engaging demeanor with a passion for hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, attentive beverage service and create a welcoming tavern experience.
• Prepare classic and specialty cocktails accurately according to recipes.
• Guide guests through beverage selections and make thoughtful recommendations.
• Maintain knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer, wine, and menu items.
• Handle guest checks and payments, and manage opening/closing side work.
• Collaborate with servers, culinary team, and hotel departments for seamless service.
