Job summary

Vanjen Group is seeking an experienced UPS/critical power field service engineer to support maintenance, testing, and commissioning in the Houston area. You will perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on UPS and related power systems.

You will also assist with startup, commissioning, MOP development, and on-site testing activities, while coordinating with engineering teams and documenting field activities for customers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of UPS or critical power field service experience.
• Experience supporting data centers, telecom, industrial, healthcare, or critical infrastructure facilities is preferred.

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, emergency response, and repairs on UPS and critical power systems.
• Support startup, commissioning, acceptance testing, and field modifications of electrical infrastructure equipment.
• Oversee on-site testing activities for UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, STS, bypass systems, and related equipment.
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve operational issues and document findings.

Job description

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, emergency response, and repairs on UPS and critical power systems.
• Support startup, commissioning, acceptance testing, and field modifications of electrical infrastructure equipment.
• Conduct commissioning-focused design reviews and assist with preparing test procedures, reports, and technical documentation.
• Oversee and participate in on-site testing activities for UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, STSs, bypass systems, and related equipment.
• Assist with development and execution of Methods of Procedures (MOPs) and site‑specific maintenance plans.
• Coordinate with internal technical support and engineering teams to resolve operational or maintenance‑related issues.
• Complete Field Service Reports accurately and promptly following service activity.
• Provide customers with technical recommendations, lifecycle observations, and proactive maintenance guidance.
• Escalate unusual technical findings, project risks, or operational concerns to management as required.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA, site safety, and customer operational procedures.
• Attend periodic technical and OEM training programs, including factory‑based equipment training and rebuild instruction.

Equipment Experience

Experience supporting and troubleshooting the following equipment is preferred:

• UPS systems
• Battery systems (VRLA and Lithium-Ion)
• Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
• Static Transfer Switches (STS)
• IR Scanning
• Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
• Switchgear
• DC power systems
• Monitoring and control systems

Preferred Background

• Minimum 3 years of UPS or critical power field service experience.
• Experience working within data centers, telecom, industrial, healthcare, or critical infrastructure facilities.
• OEM factory training or hands‑on experience with any of the following systems from:
• Vertiv
• Eaton
• ABB
• Guto
• Toshiba
• Leibert
• Previous experience working for a third‑party UPS service provider is beneficial.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, technical manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
• Proficiency using electrical test equipment, meters, and hand tools.
• Strong customer communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently with good judgement, initiative, and problem‑solving capability.
