Job summary

Thomas MacLaren School in Colorado Springs is seeking an Upper School Student Support Specialist to provide academic, behavioral, and SEL support for students within special education programs. The role involves working in small groups or one-on-one, assisting with IEP implementation, and helping students stay organized.

Requirements include a High School diploma (an Associate degree is preferred) and strong communication with staff and families.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• Ability to work in small groups or one-on-one with students.
• Experience with behavior intervention programs encouraged.
• CPI certification or willingness to attend certification training.
• Strong communication with faculty and parents.

Responsibilities

• Assist faculty with students needing academic, behavioral, or SEL support.
• Work in small groups or one-on-one with students.
• Assist Special Education team with IEP implementation.
• Help students with material organization.
• Provide data-driven, research-based instruction per IEP as directed.
• Support self-care needs as required (toileting, positioning, lifting).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
