Nueva School in San Mateo seeks an Assistant Varsity Coach for Girls Basketball (November through February) to coach student-athletes, teach game fundamentals, and develop team strategies. You will support the varsity program and help players grow on and off the court.

You will model sportsmanship, ensure safety, and collaborate with administrators, parents, and players to foster growth, discipline, and teamwork.

Competenze

• Some coaching experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of basketball rules, techniques and strategies.
• Ability to work with school administrators, parents and student-athletes.

This position will assist the varsity.Responsibilities include:* Coach and instruct players, individually or in groups, regarding the sport's rules, regulations, equipment, techniques, and tactics.* Observe players during practice and competition to determine individual or team improvement needs.* Determine game strategy based on the individual and team’s capabilities.* Establish and maintain high standards of behavior and supervise athletes at all times.* Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.* Observe school, league, state, regional, and national athletic program regulations.* Model positive behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, parents, officials, and spectators – practice good sportsmanship.* Employ nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.**Job Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required)**Some experience as a basketball coach or club level is preferred. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. Must have working knowledge of the sport's rules, regulations, techniques, and strategies.
