The Miquon School, a Progressive, non-sectarian independent school serving grades N-6, is seeking a full-time teacher to teach in one of its upper elementary classroom groups starting in the 2025-26 school year. Salary is commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits include tuition remission, deferred compensation, sabbatical opportunities, and health care.
This position reports to the Director of Teaching and Learning. We are a community diverse along ethnic, economic, and religious lines, and Miquon seeks applicants who broaden that diversity.
Miquon teachers support the intellectual and social/emotional development of children as individuals and community members, collaborating with families. Each classroom has two teachers responsible for instruction, curriculum development in mathematics, language arts, and social studies, and collaboration with specialists and support staff.
We also welcome candidates with talents in music, languages, human development, science, cooking, Responsive Classroom, Restorative Practices, or leadership.
Our resources support teachers and curriculum development, but we do not adhere to a single textbook or program, encouraging innovative, research-based, and community-embodying curriculum creation.
Founded in 1932, Miquon is an independent, coeducational elementary school near Philadelphia for children in Nursery through 6th grade, with approximately 150 students. We focus on honoring childhood, using innovative, student-centered teaching, and fostering environmental appreciation through outdoor experiences on our nearly 11-acre campus.
Miquon values independent thinking, collaborative learning, authentic assessment, and creative curriculum approaches. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
Please send your statement of educational philosophy, resume, and cover letter addressing your skills and experience to resumes@miquon.org. Resumes will be reviewed immediately and considered until the position is filled.
