The Upper Elementary Teacher plays a key role in implementing the school's vision for equity and excellence, ensuring all students achieve at high levels and embody the school's core values of practice, service, and purpose. The Upper Elementary Teacher reports to the Assistant Principal of Instruction and collaborates with the school team to create a positive and adaptive learning environment.

Responsibilities & Duties

Deliver Engaging Instruction

  • Plan and teach daily core content lessons aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and learning styles.
  • Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and a love for mathematics.

Support Student Growth And Achievement

  • Analyze student data to inform instruction and track progress toward academic goals.
  • Differentiate instruction and provide targeted support to meet the needs of all learners, including students requiring additional challenges or interventions.
  • Celebrate student achievements and encourage perseverance.

Create a Positive Classroom Culture

  • Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment that reflects the school's core values.
  • Use effective classroom management strategies to promote respect, empathy, and collaboration among students.
  • Model a growth mindset and foster a sense of belonging in the classroom.

Collaborate And Communicate

  • Work closely with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure the success of every student.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, and transitions as needed.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification (or eligibility for certification).
  • At least one year of teaching experience preferred, with demonstrated success in improving student outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of middle school mathematics content and pedagogy.
