Job summary

UPMC is seeking an Environmental Services Associate for the Float Pool. This night-shift role covers multiple Oakland campus locations, including UPMC Mercy and Magee-Women's Hospital. You will help keep patient areas clean, safe, and welcoming across diverse hospital settings.

You will learn procedures, work with various teams, and adapt to different facilities while maintaining high sanitation standards and patient comfort.

Qualifications

• No contact with medications is allowed.

Responsibilities

• Make beds following cleaning procedures in discharge and on-call rooms.
• Remove trash from all assigned areas.
• Inspect and report cleaning issues to the supervisor.
• Clean patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices and equipment.
• Follow safety and sanitation regulations.
• Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations.
• Move equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets as assigned.
• Maintain assigned equipment in clean, working condition and report problems.
• Follow written and verbal instructions to complete housekeeping duties.
• May be in rooms where medications are stored.

UPMC is seeking dedicated and adaptable individuals to join our Environmental Services Float Pool, serving across multiple hospital campuses in Oakland—including UPMC Mercy, Montefiore, Magee-Women's Hospital, Presbyterian, and Shadyside. In this vital position, you’ll play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while gaining exposure to a variety of hospital settings and teams. This position will work the night shift.

Responsibilities

• Make beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
• Remove trash from all assigned areas.
• Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, report problems to the supervisor.
• Clean all assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.
• Follow all safety and sanitation regulations.
• Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in all locations of assigned areas to assure adequate supply.
• Move equipment, furniture, boxes, wash walls, spot carpets, etc. as assigned.
• Maintain assigned equipment in clean, working condition, reporting problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in order to successfully complete housekeeping duties.
• Ability to use housekeeping equipment.
• May in the course of duties be in rooms where medications are stored.
• No contact with medications is allowed.
