Job summary

MÅNSKEN Design, a Nordic-inspired upholstery studio in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking an experienced upholsterer with strong sewing skills to join our team. You will sew covers for banquettes, booths, sofas and wall panels, using vinyls, leathers, fabrics and performance textiles.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of sewing experience, experience with industrial machines, and a sharp eye for detail. This on-site role requires reading shop drawings and meeting project deadlines, while offering hands-on

Qualifications

• 2+ years of sewing experience required.
• Industrial sewing machine experience is a strong plus.
• Experience with upholstery, vinyl or leather is a plus, willingness to train the right person.
• Sharp eye for detail and straight, consistent stitching.
• Ability to read drawings and follow instructions.
• Reliable, punctual and able to meet project deadlines.
• Comfortable with physical work (standing, lifting materials up to 50lbs).

Responsibilities

• Sew upholstery covers for banquettes, booths, sofas, chairs and wall panels.

• Sew French seams, topstitching, channels, welting and other details to spec.

MÅNSKEN Design is a Nordic-inspired upholstery studio in Brooklyn, New York. We build custom banquettes, booths and upholstered wall panels for restaurants, bars, hotels and medical centers, working from designers’ and architects’ drawings. Our roots go back to Finland, where we have upholstered breweries, bars and restaurants for years. Now we’re growing our team in NYC.

What you’ll do

• Sew upholstery covers for banquettes, booths, sofas, chairs, poufs and wall panels
• Work with commercial vinyls, leathers, fabrics and performance textiles
• Sew French seams, topstitching, channels, welting and other detail work to spec
• Cut and match patterns, keeping material waste low
• Read shop drawings and stitch details, and ask questions when something is unclear

What we’re looking for

• 2+ years of experience
• Sewing experience is required (industrial machines a strong plus)
