Employers Overload in Newberg, OR is seeking an Upholstery Installer to support the production team in layout, cutting and sewing of vinyl upholstery assemblies. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and cross-training opportunities.

You will operate basic tools and sewing machines under supervision, maintain an orderly workspace, and follow safety procedures while contributing to production goals. The role provides temp-to-hire potential with regular overtime as needed.

Job description

The Upholstery Installer supports the production team by assisting in the preparation and installation of vinyl upholstery assemblies. This includes basic pattern layout, cutting, and sewing under supervision. This role is ideal for individuals beginning their career in upholstery and manufacturing, with opportunities for skill development and cross-training.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Safely operate basic hand and power tools, including cutters and sewing machines, with guidance.

Assist in vinyl layout, cutting, and simple sewing tasks.

Participate in cross-training to learn additional production tasks.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Follow established safety and production procedures.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational and Skill Requirements:

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Basic understanding of upholstery or textile work preferred.

Physically capable of operating vinyl preparation and sewing equipment.

Willingness to receive training and assist other team members.

Minimum 3 months of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods, approximately 65–100% of the shift.

Frequent lifting of 1–5 lbs.

Frequent repetitive use of arms, wrists, and hands, including grasping and squeezing.

Occasional walking, reaching, and carrying.

Ability to push/pull up to 10 lbs. over short distances.

Good manual dexterity, vision, and hearing required.

Equipment Used:

Basic hand tools, sewing machines, cutters, scales, and presses.

Personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses.

Work Schedule and Pay:

Monday–Friday, with mandatory overtime on Saturdays and Sundays as needed.

Flexible hours with occasional overtime.

Regular and reliable attendance is expected.

Pay Rate: $18.00/hour

Location: Newberg, OR

Temp-to-Hire with the opportunity for permanent placement.
