Job summary

Ardmore Home Design, Inc. is seeking a Sewer to sew, assemble, alter, and repair upholstered furniture covers and fabric components on a fast-paced production line. Precision, quality awareness, and teamwork are essential to meet design specifications.

Description

We are looking for a Sewer who is responsible for sewing, assembling, altering, and repairing upholstered furniture covers and other fabric components according to specifications and quality standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities
Sewing & Assembly
  • Operate industrial sewing machines to sew fabric, vinyl, and leather components for upholstered furniture.
  • Join precut fabric pieces using double-needle, single-needle, serger, or other machines as required.
  • Match patterns, align seams, and maintain consistency with design specifications.
Quality & Inspection
  • Inspect finished seams for accuracy, strength, and visual appeal.
  • Ensure that all pieces meet company quality standards before moving them to the next stage of production.
  • Identify and report defective materials or workmanship issues.
Alterations & Repairs
  • Perform alterations or repairs on fabric components as instructed.
  • Adjust tension, stitch length, and other machine settings for different materials
Productivity
  • Meet daily production quotas while maintaining high level of craftsmanship.
Machine Maintenance
  • Perform basic maintenance on sewing machines (cleaning, threading, replacing needles).
  • Report mechanical issues promptly to immediate supervisor.

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Manuel dexterity for handling fabric and operating machines.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; as well as reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
  • Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
  • Required to use stairwells to attend meetings and engage with employees on multiple floors throughout building.

Compensation

Starting base pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
