Job summary

American Leather Operations LLC in Dallas, TX is seeking an upholsterer for a full-time role in a climate-controlled environment. The position requires standing for long periods while using hand tools and air-powered equipment to attach leather and fabric to wood frames.

Overtime flexibility is expected. You will secure materials with a staple gun, match covers to frames, and follow traveler instructions to meet specific order requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read traveler instructions and match covers to frame materials.

Responsibilities

  • Secure fabric and leather with a staple gun and assemble final piece.
  • Match covers to the correct frame and upholster all frame parts.
  • Read product specifications and ensure order requirements are met.
  • Correct crooked seams and staple bumps and inspect finished work.
  • Maintain quality and complete tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Lead.

SUMMARY:

The upholsterer must be able to work in a climate-controlled environment, requiring continuous standing while operating hand tools and air compressed staple gun to adhere leather and fabric to wood frames. Upholsterers are required to have flexibility to work overtime as needed.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Secures fabric and leather using a staple gun. Air racket, and, drill is used to assemble the final piece.
  • Match covers material with correct frame and upholster all frame parts
  • Reads traveler instructions on product specifications including medallion, leg color, welt or brass tack, springs or webbing and other order requirement
  • Correct any crooked seams and staple bumps
  • Visually inspect work to ensure quality
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Lead
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Must be able to safely use air tools including:
  • Air racket
  • Drill
  • Blower
  • Ability to recognize proper nuts, bolts, and screws per style.
  • Ability to work with welt on front post.
  • Ability to assemble frame and or mechanisms to the frames as required.
  • Ability to inspect work as being upholstered and this includes sewing mistakes and bad leather or fabric.
  • Strength to pull hard materials onto frame for long periods of time
  • Must check seams and quality when piece is complete.
