Job summary

American Leather in Dallas, TX is hiring a production upholsterer to support luxury furniture fabrication. You will read travelers for frame components, prepare pieces for shipping, repair tasks, and collaborate with cushion specialists to ensure top workmanship.

Ideal candidates can safely use hand tools, operate a furniture steamer, heat gun, and blower, and lift 100 lbs. or more while maintaining quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to safely use hand tools and follow instructions precisely.
• Experience using furniture steamer, heat gun, blower for upholstery tasks.
• Ability to identify proper nuts, bolts, and screws by style and spec.
• Ability to assemble frames and mechanisms to the frame.
• Inspect upholstery quality, including sewing, leather, and fabric.
• Must verify seams and overall piece quality upon completion.
• Capable of lifting 100 lbs or more.

Responsibilities

• Make furniture ready by ensuring the finished product is clean and ready to ship.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read traveler for correct components of the frame style, deck label, law label, leg color, suspension, shipping label, and other options as required. Inspect the piece for seams straight, sewing correct, leather, label, and mechanism inspection as required by line.
• Make furniture ready by ensuring the finished product is clean and ready to ship.
• Repair work as required.
• Work with Cushion stuffers and Deluxers as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Must be able to safely use hand tools, including but not limited to:
• Furniture steamer
• Heat Gun
• Blower
• Ability to recognize proper nuts, bolts, and screws per style.
• Ability to assemble frames and or mechanisms to the frames as required.
• Ability to inspect work as being upholstered, and this includes sewing mistakes and bad leather or fabric.
• Must check seams and quality when the piece is complete.
• Must be able to move or lift 100 lbs. or more
