Job summary

Sinclair Community College is seeking an Unmanned Aerial Systems Adjunct Faculty member for part-time teaching at the Dayton campus. This role requires teaching responsibilities, syllabi preparation, and utilization of instructional technology to promote student success.

The position pays $1,046 per credit hour taught, with eligibility restricted to residents of OH, IN, or KY or those who can work within those states. Prior teaching experience and FAA licensure are important assets.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in aviation, aeronautics, UAS, or related field required; master's preferred.
Associate's degree in content area or related field is required.
US citizenship required for ITAR compliance; FAA license may be required; upload FAA license images during application.

Responsibilities

Teach curriculum developed by the department.
Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
Prepare syllabi for all assigned sections per policies.
Employ effective teaching strategies and use instructional technology.
Maintain accurate student records and submit final grade rosters on time.

Position Summary

Sinclair Community College offers one of the most comprehensive aviation technology programs in the nation which includes Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in Aviation Technology /Professional Pilot and Unmanned Aerial Systems . Sinclair’s bachelor and associate degrees and technical certificate programs prepare graduates for careers as commercial fixed wing and helicopter pilots, aircraft mechanics, flight attendants, aircraft dispatchers, aviation managers and unmanned aerial systems operators and technicians.

The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach. For the full list of available courses to teach, please explore our course catalog . Principal Accountabilities

Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed and prepared by the department
Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs
Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
Maintain accurate records of student progress
Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
Maintain confidentiality of student information
Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester
Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in aviation, aeronautics, UAS , or related area required, master’s degree preferred OR must meet the specific requirements associated with the following:
- Tested Experience:
  - Minimum of an Associate’s degree in content area or related field required
  - Possess a widely accepted license or certification in the industry required
    - To be considered, candidates must upload images of both the front and back of their FAA license in the Licensure/Certification section of the application
FAA pilot certificate (private, commercial, or instructor) preferred
UAS pilot or cred experience preferred
Must be a US Citizen for ITAR compliance required
Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred
Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a diverse college community
Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction

Official transcripts for all post-secondary degrees (if applicable) and successful completion of a background check will be required prior to date of hire.
