Job summary

A maritime services company in New London, CT is looking for Unlicensed Engineers to support the Chief Engineer with routine maintenance and watch-standing duties. Candidates should be mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and must pass a pre-employment drug test. Responsibilities

  • Standing routine watches and record pertinent data.
  • Proper execution of start-up and shut-down procedures.
  • Perform system troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Complete weekly/monthly preventative maintenance.
  • Safely maintain vessel systems to applicable regulations.
  • Participate in mandated drills and emergency procedures.
  • General duties such as cleaning, painting, and maintaining the engine space.
  • Transferring Water, Sewage, and Fuel.
  • Proper communication with peers.

Job description

Cross Sound Ferry is actively looking for individuals looking to launch their maritime career and join our engineering department. Unlicensed engineers will perform watch‑standing duties and assist the Chief Engineer in day‑to‑day maintenance on engines and auxiliary machinery. Candidates must be mechanically inclined and willing to learn.

We offer flexible work rotations at 4 days on/3 days off or 8 days on/6 days off. Every vessel is equipped with full living quarters including galley and common area.

Cross Sound vessels range from 1,400-9,600 horsepower and we encourage individuals to upgrade their licenses.

Responsibilities include (not limited to):
