Job summary

Cross Sound Ferry Services, Inc is seeking a Full-Time Licensed Engineer to oversee and maintain all machinery onboard their vessels. Candidates will perform watch-standing duties and participate in preventative maintenance and emergency procedures.

Job description

Full-Time Licensed Engineer [1009]

Cross Sound Ferry is actively looking for 3rd Assistant Engineers, DDE 4000, and Chief Engineers Limited or above. Candidates are expected to perform watch‑standing duties and maintain all machinery onboard our vessels. We are looking for candidates interested in growing alongside our company.

We offer flexible work rotations at 4 days on/3 days off or 8 days on/6 days off. Every vessel is equipped with full living quarters including galley and common area. Cross Sound vessels range from 1,400-9,600 horsepower and we encourage individuals to upgrade their licenses.

Responsibilities (not Limited To)
  • Standing routine watches and maintaining logs
  • Complete all preventative maintenance
  • Participate and lead mandated drills and emergency procedures as directed by the USCG
  • Safely maintain vessel systems
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs as needed
  • Upkeep machinery spaces
  • Communicate clearly with shore side facilities and peers
  • Transferring of oil, water, and waste to and from the shore side
Requirements
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Valid Merchant Mariner Credential with minimum Oilier rating
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC)
