Job summary

The City of New York Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to act as a Cloud DevOps and Application Migration Engineer. You will assess architecture, drive cloud migrations, and build robust CI/CD pipelines across teams.

Ideal candidates have strong cloud experience (AWS/Azure), hands-on skills with GitHub Actions, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes, and a focus on security, monitoring, and deployment governance. NYC residency not required.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field and 4+ years of full-time IT infrastructure experience; or 8+ years alternative.
• Experience migrating and modernizing enterprise apps in AWS/Azure environments.
• Experience with CI/CD tools, automation, and cloud-native monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Assess architecture, dependencies, data flows, and security for cloud migration or modernization.
• Collaborate with analysts, owners, developers, infra teams, and vendors to define migration requirements.
• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and related automation.
• Assist teams in modernizing legacy .NET, Java, and API components for cloud readiness.
• Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and dashboards for operations visibility.
• Coordinate migration activities across teams and stakeholders to manage dependencies and risks.
• Provide guidance on cloud deployment processes, pipelines, containers, observability, and issue resolution.
