Job summary

The Department of Social Services ITS in New York City is seeking an IT Project Specialist to act as a Unix Middleware Engineer. You will oversee automation, cloud migration, and containerized middleware stacks for enterprise apps.

Responsibilities include CI/CD with Jenkins, AWS tooling, Ansible, and observability with Splunk/AppDynamics. Strong scripting in Bash/Python is required, with a relevant degree and years of experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/engineering/HCI or related field with 4+ years of full-time experience or 8+ years with no degree
• Experience with middleware, cloud migration, and automation
• Strong scripting in Bash/Python/PowerShell and DevOps practices

Responsibilities

• Oversee complex infrastructure automation and cloud migration
• Design and maintain high-availability containerized environments
• Develop CI/CD with Jenkins and manage container stacks
• Write Ansible playbooks to automate deployment
• Manage AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Route53, and VPC
• Implement observability with Splunk and AppDynamics dashboards
