About the Role

The University Resource Officer is a seasonal or part-time memberof the UPD team (generally August through May) with responsibilities for providing law enforcement services to thecampus community. Candidates must be eligible for appointment underK.R.S. 164.952, including retirement from a KPPA administeredsystem with at least 20 years of service credit and in goodstanding. This position is for 1500 hours typically worked fromAugust through May.

• Communicating with supervisors, peers, and all stakeholdersin a courteous, culturally adroit manner that models the UniversityPolice core values, while providing an outstanding customer serviceexperience.
• Patrolling assigned areas on foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle.
• Promptly, clearly, and concisely completing a variety ofwritten incident, offense, and ancillary reports in a grammaticallycorrect manner and in accordance with established best practices.
• Responding to emergency alarms and dispatched calls forservice .
• Observing and responding to actual and suspected criminalactivity .
• Deterring crime and arresting violators as prescribed byKentucky Revised Statutes .

POSTED SALARY

• $42.00 per hour plus KLEFPF

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• The University Resource Officer is a seasonal or part-timemember of the UPD team (generally August through May) withresponsibilities for providing law enforcement services to the campus community. Candidates must be eligible for appointment underK.R.S. 164.952, including retirement from a KPPA administeredsystem with at least 20 years of service credit and in goodstanding.

• Any candidate who is offered this position will be requiredto undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandatedby state law.

• S uccessful candidates will have excellentinterpersonal and communication skills. In addition, the candidatewill have positive work and/or life experiences interacting andbuilding strong relationships with people from diverse backgroundsand communities. Officers must also be willing to listen, learn,and seek opportunities to teach while actively supporting andupholding the mission and values of Northern KentuckyUniversity.
• The successful candidate will be required to demonstratecompetent solo patrol and investigative abilities by satisfying theknowledge and performance-based benchmarks set forth in thesupervised Field Training Observation & Evaluation program.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The selected candidate will be required to work 12-hourrotating shifts. Night, weekend, and holiday work is required .
