The officer is responsible for maintaining a positive relationship with the university community; maintaining a secure environment; mitigating safety hazards; being observant and responding to actual and suspected criminal activity on campus; controlling and regulating traffic; and investigating security, safety, crime, and traffic incidents. The university police officer is dedicated to educating, mentoring, and contributing to the success of the university community.**Primary Responsibilities*** Communicating with supervisors, peers, and all stakeholders in a courteous, culturally adroit manner that models the University Police core values, while providing an outstanding customer service experience.* Patrolling assigned areas on foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle.* Promptly, clearly, and concisely completing a variety of written incident, offense, and ancillary reports in a grammatically correct manner and in accordance with established best practices.* Responding to emergency alarms and dispatched calls for service.* Observing and responding to actual and suspected criminal activity.* Deterring crime and arresting violators as prescribed by Kentucky Revised Statutes.**Qualifications:*** High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.* Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment.* A valid driver’s license is required.* Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
