Job summary

California State University, Monterey Bay is seeking a University Controller to provide leadership for the university’s core financial, transactional, and compliance functions. This role oversees general accounting, accounts payable, and financial reporting, and serves as the chief steward of financial integrity while driving efficiency and data-enabled service delivery.

The position reports to the AVP for Finance and requires CPA preferred and experience in higher education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field and seven years of accounting management experience
• Experience in higher education or non-profit setting preferred
• CPA license preferred; advanced degree desirable

Responsibilities

• Oversee campus accounting, financial reporting, and general ledger operations.
• Ensure GAAP financial statements and year-end close.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Lead and develop accounting staff.
• Ensure compliance with GASB/GAAP and CSU policies.
