ManpowerGroup is hiring cooks for a university dining team in Detroit, MI. These full-time, onsite positions offer 1st and 2nd shift opportunities with hourly pay of $16.35–$17.25. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen, prepare quality meals, and contribute to a positive dining experience for students, faculty, and guests.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Cook or in a related food service role.
• Knowledge of cooking methods and kitchen operations.
• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper food storage practices.
• Ability to obtain Food Safety Certification.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout the shift as needed.
• Willingness to wear required uniforms and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, production standards, and quality expectations.
• Assist with food preparation, portioning, and ingredient setup for daily meal service.
• Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures are followed at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, workstations, and food preparation areas.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and consistency throughout service.
• Follow safety guidelines and workplace procedures to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
• Assist with inventory rotation, product storage, and waste reduction efforts.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to ensure efficient operations.
• Support additional food service and kitchen duties as assigned.
