Job summary

California State University, Monterey Bay seeks a University Controller to lead its core financial, transactional, and compliance functions. You will modernize operations, drive enterprise change, and ensure accurate financial records and timely reporting to leadership and the Chancellor’s Office.

You will oversee general accounting, accounts payable, and financial reporting, while managing a team and collaborating with auditors to strengthen internal controls and adherence to GASB/GAAP

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures.
• Strong supervisory abilities and leadership experience.
• Ability to interpret GASB/GAAP pronouncements and policies.

Responsibilities

• Meet CSU accounting requirements to record and report the University’s financial transactions.
• Oversee the campus general accounting, financial reporting and tax functions.
• Plan and direct year-end financial reporting activities including GAAP statements and audits.
• Work with internal and external auditors.
• Oversee maintenance of campus finance systems and internal controls.
• Interpret regulations and implement relevant accounting pronouncements.
• Prepare and distribute campus financial reports for various funds.
• Develop and administer policies for all funds including state and enterprise funds.
• Lead training programs and policy communications for campus departments.
