The Universal Technician I is the first step in a progression to a Universal Technician III. The role requires transitioning into higher levels within specified timeframes, with responsibilities including the installation of the CATV drop system from the tap to the customer's TV, handling outside drops, electronics placement, and customer education. This position does not have direct reports.

Essential Functions

• Complete installation work orders accurately and timely;
• Perform basic installations such as new connects, reconnects, disconnects, and customer education;
• Maintain relationships with managers and maintenance staff;
• Handle installations related to BEX, Buckeye Phone, and TiVo;
• Report system problems promptly;
• Troubleshoot service issues;
• Operate company vehicles safely;
• Accurately complete and submit work orders;
• Maintain inventory of equipment;
• Read cable blueprints;
• Follow company policies and safety guidelines;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent;
• Ability to read and spell English properly;
• Physical ability to climb poles and ladders and lift up to 60 pounds;
• Attention to detail;
• Math skills to the 12th-grade level preferred;
• Previous experience in telecommunications preferred.
