Job summary

Topgolf is seeking a Unity Developer to join our Games team and build Unity-based experiences for Topgolf venues. You will create interactive games that leverage ball-tracking data, venue systems, real-time scoring, and social gameplay, collaborating with designers, artists, QA, and platform engineers to ship prototypes through national rollout.

You will write clean C# code, optimize performance for venue hardware, and contribute to build and deployment workflows while maintaining high quality,

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of professional experience developing games or interactive apps in Unity.
• Solid C# programming skills.
• Experience building gameplay systems, UI flows, and real-time interactive features.
• Experience with Unity performance optimization, profiling, memory management, and build configuration.
• Experience with Git version control.
• Ability to debug across gameplay, data, UI, and platform integrations, escalating complex problems appropriately.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to teammates.
• A practical, delivery-focused mindset with attention to quality, stability, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize Unity games and interactive experiences for Topgolf venues.
• Build gameplay systems, UI, animation, scoring, camera behavior, effects, and game-state logic.
• Integrate Unity games with internal Topgolf services, APIs, tracking systems, configuration tools, and venue hardware, with support from senior engineers on architecture decisions.
• Work with designers and product owners to turn game concepts into playable prototypes and production-ready experiences.
• Collaborate with artists and technical artists to implement assets, shaders, VFX, animations, and performance-conscious visuals.
• Support QA by fixing bugs, improving testability, and helping diagnose issues found in venue and local test environments.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-structured C# code and contribute to code reviews.
• Help improve build, deployment, and development workflows where needed.
• Optimize performance for venue hardware and ensure games run reliably in a live entertainment environment.
• Participate in technical planning, estimation, and sprint ceremonies.
• Help maintain existing game titles while contributing features to new product initiatives.

This role sits at the intersection of game development, real-world sports, connected venues, and large-scale entertainment technology. You will build and ship Unity-based games and experiences that run in Topgolf bays, using ball-tracking data, venue systems, real-time scoring, and engaging game mechanics to create fun, social, competitive gameplay.
You will work closely with game designers, artists, UX/UI designers, QA, product owners, and platform engineers to deliver high-quality games from prototype through national rollout, with guidance from senior engineers on more complex technical decisions.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
• Ability to debug issues across gameplay, data, UI, and platform integrations, escalating complex problems appropriately.
• Comfortable working in a cross-functional team with designers, artists, QA, product, and engineering stakeholders.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to teammates.
• A practical, delivery-focused mindset with attention to quality, stability, and maintainability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience shipping commercial games, location-based entertainment, arcade games, sports games, or multiplayer/social games.
• Experience integrating Unity applications with REST APIs, backend services, or external hardware systems.
• Experience with Linux-based Unity builds.
• Exposure to automated build pipelines, CI/CD, or build tooling.
• Familiarity with game telemetry, analytics, live-ops, or configuration-driven content.
• Exposure to physics-driven gameplay, ball tracking, projectile systems, or sports simulation.
• Some experience supporting games in production environments.
• Familiarity with Unity addressables, asset bundles, localization, or input systems.
• Interest in golf, sports entertainment, competitive games, or social play experiences.
