Job summary

Corewell Health’s IMC unit at Trenton Hospital is seeking a part-time clerical associate to support a 24-bed Critical Care-Telemetry unit focused on cardiac patients. You will perform general clerical duties, schedule follow-ups, maintain EMR records, and coordinate with nursing staff to keep unit operations efficient.

The role requires a high school diploma and clerical experience; training for Unit Secretary/Health Unit Coordinator is preferred.

Qualifications

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent. Specialized Unit Secretary/Health Unit Coordinator training preferred.
• 1 year of relevant experience in clerical and/or customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Under direction of licensed nursing staff, provides general clerical duties, reception duties and requisition of supplies, coordinates with other departments for unit efficiency.
• Answers call lights and forwards requests to appropriate team members.
• Schedule follow up physician appointments for patients upon discharge.
• Assembles, disassembles, and maintains patient medical records per unit standard.
• Maintains competency and knowledge of EMR, including ongoing updates.

36 hours per month minimum with 8 hours of weekend minimum per month.

Opportunities to work both days and afternoons, filling in the schedule gaps for our full timers.

About the unit

The IMC unit at Trenton is a 24-bed unit. We are classified as a Critical Care-Telemetry unit. The unit has a focus on cardiac patients. Common illnesses that are treated on our unit include NSTEMI, post cardiac catheterization, COPD, Pneumonia, and CHF. We do see a wide variety of other illnesses as well. IMC continues to be a unit with a lot of longevity, and great staff retention rates. We have monthly Unit Council meetings, which are an opportunity for shared governance. Our typical RN to patient ratio is 3-4:1 and our NA to patient ratio is a maximum of 12:1.

About Trenton Hospital

This Magnet-designated facility provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for its patients and is one of four recipients of the Truven Health Advantage Award in the category of Health and Clinical Outcomes. It is home to nine university affiliated residency programs. Here, you will find a Level II trauma center that is a nationally recognized heart, vascular and pulmonary specialties along with other specialties like orthopedics, neurosurgery, and women's health.

Maintains their competency and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including ongoing updates.

Qualifications
