Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital- Kansas City is seeking a dedicated Unit Secretary to support patient care units with clerical tasks, transcription of orders, and communications.

This full-time daytime role (6 AM-6 PM) offers extensive orientation, competitive benefits including health insurance, PTO and 401(k) with company match, and the opportunity to contribute to world-class post-ICU care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with medical files and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support to patient care units, including transcription of orders and filing of reports.
• Answer phones and deliver messages in a timely manner.
• Maintain close communication with the Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handle all necessary paperwork promptly.
• Order supplies from Materials Management when needed.
• Verify physician privileges prior to transcribing orders.
• Transcribe and flag orders from charts appropriately.
• Arrange transport of patients for tests not offered in-house.
